I’ve been obsessed with knitting these lately. After seeing a few kinds similar to these for sale in various places, I decided that I could totally make some myself, and, hopefully, sell them at an upcoming flea market. Is it sad that my only possible source of income depends on the tastes of the average Nashville flea market shopper? Maybe. A girl’s gotta do what a girl’s gotta do - unless that means getting an actual job, of course.

Bright sage and pumpkin: fall-ish, no?

This was my first stab at the style…the yarn is a nice, soft blue (perfect for pairing with cool winter outfits!). The band ended up a little too wide for my taste, so I’ve since adjusted my standard measurements to the slightly skinnier profile above.
Yay for cuteness!
Since the arrival of beautiful fall, I now require that everything I eat or drink is either high-calorie comfort food or is pumpkin flavored.
Enter: pumpkin cupcakes. They’re like your beloved pumpkin muffin’s cooler brother. I like to think that the swirl of cream cheese icing (that’s right - freaking homemade cream cheese icing) adds some element of delicious bad-ass-ness.

….BUT….not only did I make pumpkin cupcakes - I let my Gleek flag fly by temporarily turning them into Klaine-cakes.

Yeah. Yummy in so many ways.
Sorry to those who hate or do not know/care about Glee, but I just had to do it. There is no stopping my madness.
These are some leftover yolks of hard-boiled eggs I used to make egg salad the other day. I didn’t know what to do with them, so I had a little photoshoot. Ta-da.

I made these little owl teethers for a friend of mine who—until recently—was expecting a bouncing baby boy. I got the idea from my sister, who, I believe, in turn got the idea from Homemade by Jill (I can’t put a link in, so just Google it!). The owls’ backs are made of a super soft, minky fabric flannel, and both are stuffed with batting and crinkly plastic. Perfect for soothing a little monster’s achey gums, entertaining them at the same time!
I want these.

After I saw this insanely adorable tutorial on the Purl Bee, I had to start making felt rosettes. My flowers are essentially made the same way, but with a few more petals and a dash of slight carelessness.
Here are a few pictures of what my dear mother refers to as my “little pretties.”

These three rosettes are made of cheap, gray felt and are glued onto a felt circle, completed by my now classic pin back and alligator clip combo glued/sewed on.

The flowers are made the same as those above, but I also cut out some leaves from a sage-colored felt and glued/sewed them onto a rectangle of felt. I also took another strip of felt the same size as the rectangle back, and sewed up the longer sides (not all the way around). That way, I can slide it onto a headband, but I can change from band to band if I want.
Lately I’ve become quite the crafter during my large expanse of free time (now that my scholarly obligations are nearly through!), and my current obsession is making fabric flowers.
I started making some a few months ago, after my friends and I became the most UNcool teens ever with our five-person “Craft Night” party - complete with sweater clips, owl paintings, and tie-dyed stuffs - but I eventually stopped crafting altogether. Now, it’s pretty much all that I want to do.
This is one of the first flowers I made while at our paaaartaaay.

It’s made of petals cut from both a beige linen-type and a cute green & white damask print cotton fabrics. I just layered them on top of a circle of the linen in a flower-like pattern, gluing them with fabric glue as I went. The button in the middle is just sewed on with green thread, to provide some contrast, though it might have been cuter with white or something.
After it was dried and set, I turned it over and hot-glued/sewed a pin back and small alligator clip to the linen circle. This way, I can wear it as a brooch or a hair accessory (or clip it onto a lampshade, where it’s been hanging out since I brought it home…).
So, I hope this was not a complete disappointment (haha!). I’ll try to start posting some pics of other flowers and things I make periodically, along with the occasional random whatever.
Anyway, I hope you have a nice day, whoever/wherever you are!
